HIGHSNOBIETY BERLIN
More than a conventional store, the space was conceived as a physical extension of Highsnobiety’s world,
Berlin character, engineered with precision.
For its first permanent flagship, Highsnobiety chose its hometown of Berlin and a prominent 550 m² location on Unter den Linden, just moments from the Brandenburg Gate. More than a conventional store, the space was conceived as a physical extension of Highsnobiety’s world, bringing together fashion, culture, collaborations and events within one constantly evolving environment.
Created by Highsnobiety’s in-house design team in collaboration with Berlin-based VAUST Studio, the concept celebrates the raw character of the existing building through exposed and repurposed materials, contrasted with precisely considered new interventions.
For Rizlly, the challenge was to take this distinctive creative direction and engineer it for production, retaining its deliberately raw aesthetic while ensuring the finished elements delivered the functionality, quality and flexibility required of a working flagship.
Engineering the unconventional
Working alongside Highsnobiety, VAUST Studio and HENNECKE ASSOCIATES, Rizlly was responsible for the engineering and production of the retail concept within the Berlin flagship.
Our role was to translate the creative vision into production-ready solutions, resolving construction, materials and detailing while protecting the character of the original design.
The result required an approach where technical precision could sit comfortably alongside an intentionally raw and unconventional material language.
Raw simplicity. Refined engineering.
The Highsnobiety flagship was designed as a flexible shell rather than a conventional fixed retail environment. Sanded concrete, warm grey surfaces and repurposed industrial materials create a deliberately restrained backdrop that can adapt as products, collaborations and cultural programming change.
For Rizlly, that apparent simplicity required careful engineering behind the scenes. Working from the creative concept, our team developed the individual elements into buildable solutions, resolving how materials, connections and finishes could achieve the intended aesthetic while performing reliably within a constantly changing retail space.
The resulting fixture language avoids unnecessary decoration. Instead, material, proportion and construction become part of the visual identity, allowing the products and activations within the store to continually take centre stage.
This balance between rawness and precision was central to the execution. The finished elements needed to feel naturally embedded within the architecture, while retaining the technical quality required for a permanent flagship.
Engineering that stays invisible.
The completed store gave Highsnobiety its first permanent physical home and a new platform for bringing its digital community into the real world.
Since opening, the space has continued to host changing collections, collaborations, launches and cultural events, fulfilling the original ambition for a store capable of continually evolving rather than remaining static.
For Rizlly, the project demonstrates the value of engineering that doesn’t overpower the creative idea. Technical thinking and production expertise sit behind the finished environment, allowing the intentionally raw, flexible character of the original concept to remain front and centre.
